Best time to visit the Vatican Museums

The Museums have opening hours:

From Monday to Saturday

FROM 9:00 TO 18:00

last entry at 4pm.

Every last Sunday of the month

From 9:00 to 14:00

last entry at 12.30pm.

Extraordinary openings on the last Sunday of the month are scheduled only when the last Sunday of the month does not coincide with Easter Sunday, June 29th, December 25th, December 26th or December 31st.

Extended opening hours

From May 5th to October 28th, the Museums will be open until 10.30pm on Fridays, with last entry at 8.30pm, and until 8.00pm on Saturdays, with last entry at 6.00pm.

Closing days: Sunday (except the last Sunday of the month), January 1st and 6th, February 11th, April 10th, May 1st, June 29th, August 15th and 16th, November 1st, December 8th, 25th, 26th and 31st.

Usually the best times are the opening and closing times of the entrances;  at 10:00 in the morning and from 5:00 to 6:00 in the evening. Must arrive 15 minutes before your booked time. It is also necessary to evaluate the day, in fact it appears that the central days of the week are those with the least attendance at the Vatican Museums. So Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are the best days to visit. Furthermore, from November to February, since we are in the low season, there will be a reduced turnout compared to the other months.
